The history of Prague’s PTS (public transportation system) is over 130 years old. In the PTS museum (more at www.dpp.cz) you can find many interesting exhibits as well as book a ride on a historic tram. On September 23rd 1875, Prague’s first Tramway, a private horse-drawn railway, began providing
transportation. In 1891 the first electrical tram in the Czech lands began operations – the electrical track in Letna, Prague, built by Frantisek Krizík. In 1936 the first modern trolleys began running in Prague (they stopped running in 1972). In 1974 the first track of the Prague subway opened.
