This café, set in the Cubist house At the Black Madonna, was built by the then 31 years old architect Josef Gocar in the early 1920’s. Gocar personally designed the whole café, including the furnishing such as the ceiling lights, the facing, the
stairway and even the layout of the house, also in Cubist style. A worldwide unique edifice was thus created, and after its restoration 80 years later it is once again open to the public. It is the only Cubist café of the kind in the world.
