One of the top tennis players and a top-ranked ATP player, he was the initiator of a certain change in style for world tennis.
Lendl was born in Ostrava, in former Czechoslovakia. In 1986 he immigrated to the USA, where he still lives today. During his career, he won 8 grand slam titles and participated to numerous other grand
slam finals. He was also for almost five years (1985-1989) the No. 1 ranked tennis player.
During matches, Lendl mainly relied on his physical condition and placed emphasis on his game from the baseline, from where he could use the entire court to control the match. His style transformed tennis as we know it today.
