Once at midnight, a tipsy shoemaker was making his way home from the tavern close to the church of Saint Peter at Poříčí. Walking through a narrow street he came upon a post in flames. He came up closer and discovered that it was a fiery man. Without hesitation the fiery man took the drunk by his arm and started walking him to his home.
Here the tipsy shoemaker began to thank him for his care and said: “May the Lord be with you!” The fiery man called out in delight that this is the greeting he had been waiting for these past terribly long three hundred years. At that instant he disappeared and the sobered out shoemaker realized that he had broken the fiery man‘s curse.
