The walls in the main body of the Saint Nicolas cathedral are decorated with mural paintings showing scenes from the lives of various saints. A priest dressed in a black habit who is poking his head out curiously from behind a column can be found on one of the murals. This scene seems out of order compared with the distinguished images depicting the honorable lives of many saints. The legend tells us
that the artist who was working on the mural painting asked that his work remain a secret until the day it was finished. But one of the Jesuit monks couldn't overcome his curiosity and hid behind a column in order to watch the master‘s beautiful art in work. The artist discovered the monk’s hiding place and decided to punish his shameless curiosity by painting an image of him into one of the scenes.
