About the restaurant U Zlatého Tygra (golden tiger)
The writer Bohumil Hrabal was for many years one of the most famous regulars at the U Zlatého Tygra pub, the fame of which was brought by its high-quality tap Pilsner beer, as well as by its regulars. During an official visit in 1994, American president Bill Clinton shared a table here with Bohumil Hrabal and his Czech counterpart Vaclav Havel. The initially gothic
burgess-house, in which the pub is located, underwent a Baroque reconstruction in the late 18th century. It became a favorite spot for intellectual bohemians as early as in the 19th century. One of its other regular guests was the Romantic poet Karel Hynek Macha. Even today the pub is frequented by prominent guests, who mingle with tourists and locals.
