Mikolas Ales
Mikolas Ales became the icon of Czech art in the 19th century, influencing countless artists in later generations through his art and his personality. His greatest works include the cycle Motherland created for the foyer of the National Theater,
the cycle Natural Elements and the painting Encounter of Matthias Corvinus with George of Podebrady. But he primarily gained popularity thanks to his drawings based on folk songs, his illustrations of books and his architectural work.
