Kilian Ignatius Dientzenhofer
He was born into a great family of Baroque master builders, his father was Christoph Dientzenhofer on whose projects he often participated quite substantially. Most of his work was tendered by members of the clergy, so he only barely contributed to the development of secular architecture, be it palaces or castles. The building
of the St Nicholas Church in the Lesser Quarter, with its dynamic undulating façade and a ground plan based on the intersection of axiometric oval patterns was crucial for the development of Baroque architecture in Prague. The scale and the radiality of views applied to this edifice revealed new horizons in architecture.
