Josef Mocker
Mocker specialized in the reconstruction and the completion of medieval buildings, for which he adopted the approach of supporter of 19th century historicism. In 1872 he became the director of the stone works in charge of the completion of the St Vitus Cathedral in Prague. Here he used techniques combining the Gothic style of French cathedral
with 14th century Central-European Gothic principles. He was a fervent supporter of High-Gothic esthetics, to which early and later stages of the restoration works were conformed. Apart from the St Vitus Cathedral, Mocker used this principle during the reconstruction of the Karlstein castle, which had been founded by Emperor Charles IV.
