Johann Bernhard Fischer of Erlach
The work of Fischer was strongly influenced by the Italian scene, which he came to know during his stay in Rome. He contributed to the architecture of Prague with the building of a palace for the Clam-Gallas family in the Old Town. The intensely classicizing aspect of the building was clearly inspired by his model
Bernini. He worked for the Luxemburg family in Moravia and he collaborated with the sculptor from Prague Ferdinand Maximilian Brokof for the creation of the tombstone of Wenceslas Vratislas of Mitrovitz, which represents one of the greatest Baroque funeral sculptures not only in Bohemia but in all of Europe.
