Christoph Dientzenhofer
He came from Upper Bavaria and applied for burgess-ship in the Prague Lesser Town in 1686. This excellent architect brought with him the principles of the dynamic Baroque style, which he applied on numerous religious and secular buildings in Prague and in the Bohemian countryside. Two exceptional pieces
of work that combine the principles of Baroque illusionism to moderation and a refined sense for proportions are the St Margaret Church at the Brevnov monastery, and mainly the St Nicholas Church in the Lesser Quarter of Prague, which was completed by Christopher’s son Kilian Ignatius Dienzenhofer.
