Bonifac Wolmut
In his work he combined his knowledge of Late Gothic stonecutting with Renaissance structures and dispositions. He started working for the emperor in Vienna in 1539. From 1556 to 1570 he was the royal architect at the court of Prague, during which period he significantly contributed to restoration and completion works at the Castle – he completed
the Summer Palace and the Ball Game Hall in the Royal Garden. He also contributed to the metropolitan St Vitus Cathedral by designing the organ-loft, and his plans were also used to erect the now typical spire of the cathedral’s south tower. He also left his mark outside the castle precinct, completing the Hvezda summer palace for the emperor.
