The water tower was built in 1882 in a Neo-Renaissance style following architect Antonín Turek´s plans. It was a key part of the water delivery system to the town of "Královské Vinohrady" (Royal Vineyards). The system consisted of a water treatment plant in Podolí, underground water tanks, a pumping station, and a water tower at Korunní
Street in Vinohrady. The top of the seven-floor tower is decorated with sculptures of trumpeting angels on the corner pylons. There is a clock on the attic and one floor beneath there are the emblems of the Královské Vinohrady in medallions. A lookout terrace is situated on the top floor of the building reaching 40 meters.
