Franz Kafka's Square

A square named after Franz Kavka
Info text

Such an important writer as Franz Kafka never had "his" square in Prague before the year 2000. Franz Kafka's Square is situated behind the church of St Mikuláš next to the Old Town Square. The house in which Franz Kafka was born used to stand here. Today, different historical buildings can be seen from the square. Looking West, in summer the sun sets directly behind the Prague Castle, the Maiselova Street begins here,

on the other side, next to the church of St. Mikuláš, opposite stands the new city hall built in the thirties, then across the street stands the old town hall from the 19th century, and in the corner are Romanesque houses, for example the house u Zelené Žáby (Green Frog). If you feel like it, we recommend you taste the beer in this classic Bohemian beer hall called "u Kata" (at the Executioner) at affordable prices.
