Holešovice Market is situated on the premises of the former central slaughterhouse of Prague, we are reminded of the fact today by a group of statues at the main entrance. The market came into operation in 1895. In the brick-made pavilions were a slaughter market, a butcher shop,
a pub, the slaughterhouse administration building, area for special slaughters, cattle barns and other establishments, especially a slaughter part with refrigeration equipment and a laboratory. The slaughterhouse was closed in 1983. No other use for the space has been found yet.
