The Rudolfinum is the best exemple of Czech Neo-Renaissance architecture. The building was a joint project of architects Josef Zítek and Josef Schulz. The Rudolfinum was financed by a banking institution named "Česká Spořitelna" (Böhmische Sparkasse; Czech Building Society) and was built between 1875 and 1885. It is named after Austrian Crown Prince Rudolf. The Rudolfinum is the first modern
multifunctional building in Prague. For instance, it used to house a music department, a creative art department, a decorative art department. Prior to World War II, between 1919 and 1939, the "Poslanecká Sněmovna of ČSR" (House of Representatives of the Czechoslovak Republic) used the building. Today, the Rudolfinum is home to the annual music festival called "Pražské Jaro" (Prague Spring).
