House at the Golden Well
*The Baroque stucco façade of the House at Golden Well is one of the most beautiful houses in Prague. It dates from the beginning of the 18th century and is credited to the sculptor Jan Oldřich Mayer. Legend has it that the house had a well with very good
water and that there was treasure hidden in the well. A servant once went to get water from the well and when she bent over to fetch the water, she saw a golden shine in the water’s depths. She bent over further and fell into the well and drowned.
