HOTEL EVROPA
* *The exclusive hotel was built on Wenceslas Square in an Art Nouveau style during the years of 1904 to 1905 according to the project of an architect Bedřich Bendelmayer. A five-story façade tops in a high gable of a semicircular shape that is richly decorated with plant themes. The top of the gable features a golden group-sculpture symbolizing Europe. During its times the hotel belonged to the most luxurious and the most expensive ones
in Prague, which was also evident on its indoor furnishing: wooden veneers, richly decorated balustrades, statues of sphinxes, lunette windowpanes, decorative doors, metal fittings, lighting fixtures, flooring, wall paintings, etc., all created in the spirit of Art Nouveau. The Art Nouveau style is also evident in a Pilsner Restaurant in the subbasement, in a Coffeehouse Evropa, and especially in a renowned French Restaurant.
