Sovovy Mlýny
*The first documented fact about the mills at Kampa dates back to 1393; nevertheless, undoubtedly their history goes much farther into the past. The first mill was probably founded here by the Benedictine Nuns from the convent of St. Jiří at the Prague Castle. The wooden building was burned down during the Hussite wars at the end of the 15th century. The buildings on
the banks of Vltava River were often seriously damaged by floods and fires. However, they were always rebuilt. The current Neo-Gothic appearance of "Sovovy Mlýny" (Sova's Mills) originates from the end of the 19th century.
Today, the premises are home of the Kampa Museum with an abstract art exhibition of František Kupka´art as well as other temporary exhibitions.
