Jewish Town Hall
It´s at the last moment that the building of the Jewish Town Hall avoided being sacrificed during the redevelopment plans for the Jewish quarter of the end of the 19th century. Most of the Jewish Ghetto was demolished during this period of redevelopment. The town hall was built at the end of the 16th century at the same time as the "Vysoká Synagoga" (Tall Synagogue). After the devastating
fire of 1754, the town hall received its current new Baroque appearance. Later modifications in the Rococo style affected only the appearance of the outdoor facade. The dominant feature that mustn´t be overlooked is the mansard truss roof of the town hall with its clock featuring hands with Hebrew numeral turning anticlockwise. The Jewish Town Hall is the centre of the Prague Jewish Town.
