Church of St. Roch
The church in the area of the Strahov monastery was built to the order of Emperor Rudolf the Second as a thanksgiving gesture for the eradication of the 1599 plague. This fact is also clear from the dedication of the church to St. Roch, who was worshipped as
guardian against deadly epidemics. The church was built between 1603 and 1612 and it was designed in a Mannerist style with intentional references to an older Gothic architectural vocabulary.
The church is now deconsecrated and used as a commercial gallery.
