Mocker's Buildings
In place of an older mostly Renaissance construction were built in the late 19th century the buildings of the New Office of the Provost and Canonic Residences, both designed by architect Josef Mocker, who also participated in the construction of extentions at the St. Vitus Cathedral. That is why they are called
Mocker's Buildings. Josef Mocker was a renowned representative of the Neo-Gothic purist wave. The shape of the facades of both buildings is based on the contrast between stones, architectural details and brick masonry walls. It is a good representation of this architectural style, influential at that time.
