Building u Rotta
In 1855, the Rotts family bought a house on the Small Square and transferred their hardware store into it. The current Neo-Renaissance appearance of the house results from the reconstruction completed at the end of the 19th century. The painted facade was created by the artist Mikoláš Aleš. it shows allegorical figures
from trade and agriculture: blacksmith, carpenter, cutter, harvester, female homemaker, female gardener, etc. Metal instruments and tools are also represented. The owner´s name J. V. Rott is written large between the first and second floors. Rott's Hardware Store always meant something special in Prague.
