House u Kamenného Zvonu
*The building takes its name from a stone bell imbedded into the corner of the house. A construction-historical research done at the beginning of the sixties of the 20th century revealed under the Baroque facade the exceptionally well-made original Gothic frontage of a palace of the tower type, even though preserved only in fragments. A difficult iconographic program of the sculpture decorations led to the justified speculations that such could have been the royal residence
of Jan Lucemburský. In each case, the sculpture and architectural fragments showed the high level of Prague construction and iron workshops that existed around the first quarter of the 14th century. Given the uniqueness of the findings, it was decided, not without controversy, to remove completely the later-made modifications, in particular the Baroque ones. The reconstruction was completed in 1987. Today the building is used for exhibitions and concerts.
