A Gothic church on the outskirts of the Old Town

The originally Romanesque church of the former village of Újezd Sv. Martina dating back to the first half of the 12th century underwent Gothic reconstruction at the end of the 14th century. The attribute "in the Wall" refers to the construction of the Old Town fortification, when the external walls of the church became part of the castle bulwark. Members of the renowned
Brokof, a family of sculptors were buried in the cemetery adjacent to the church. In 1784, following an Imperial Decree, the church stopped being used for religious services and the premises were then used as a warehouse, workshops and stores. The current state is the result of a reconstruction done by architect Kamil Hilbert at the beginning of the 20th century.
