Church of St. František Serafínský
*Following plans by architect Jean Baptist Mathey, between 1679 and 1688, in place of an older one, a Baroque church with a central design and a massive dome was built. The church belonged to the monastery of the Red Star Knights, a charityorder, the foundation of which is attributed to St. Agnes of Bohemia. The design is special as it incorporates the remainders of an earlier Gothic church which was transformed into the underground
crypt with a bizarre stalactite decoration. Important personalities of the order were buried here. Many exceptional Baroque painters and sculptors participated in the decoration work of the interior and the facade of the church. The fresco decoration of the ceiling with the Last Judgment as theme is the work of Václav Vavřinec Reiner. The statues of the saints in the niches on the facade were made by Matthew Václav Jäckel.
